American Sign Language, is usually known to as Ameslan,or ASL which is a system of non-verbal communication used by the deaf and hearing impaired community in the Canada, parts of Mexico.and the United States, by using ASL, people must use body language,facial expressions, palm orientations,and hand shapes, to communicate ideas. thoughts. however American Sign Language shouldn't be considered merely an adapted form of English. Since ASL has its own form of syntax and grammar, linguists consider it a uniquely separate language. Some reasons why you would want to study American Sign Language include the following, ASL can enhance your understanding of the deaf culture. ASL is useful in communicating with special needs children who have limited verbal skills. Parents can teach their babies simple ASL signs as an aid to early communication. Many employers in the service industry encourage their workers to learn ASL. ASL is the third most common language in the United States, surpassed only by Spanish and English. Studies show that between 500,000 and 2,000,000 people in the U.S. use American Sign Language as their primary form of communication.
